Adrien FOURNAISON

Baryton-basse

In addition to his obvious vocal qualities, with a homogeneity and roundness of timbre throughout his range, Adrien Fournaison's noble phrasing and rich colours have already earned him prestigious invitations and made him one of the artists of the new generation to follow closely.

Alongside his studies at Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris (summa cum laude), Adrien was a member of Atelier Lyrique Opera Fuoco in 2018, Academie Jaroussky in 2019 and Academie Orsay-Royaumont in 2022. He receives advices from great musicians such as Philippe Jaroussky, Karine Deshayes, Stéphane Degout and Dame Felicity Lott.

He soon secured engagements with Orchestre du Palais Royal, playing the role of Guglielmo in an adaptation of Mozart's Così fan tutte, and Ariodate in Händel's Serse with Opera Fuoco conducted by David Stern. His musical curiosity has also led him to tackle the musicals of Weill and Bernstein. In 2019, he took part in La Maestra Conducting Competition, singing the role of the Orator in Mozart's Magic Flute conducted by Claire Gibault.
Adrien maintains his musical openness, singing Isabelle Aboulker's L'Homme qui titubait dans la guerre, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle conducted by Guillaume Connesson, Coronation Mass with Orchestre Colonne and numerous Mozart Requiems. Adrien has also performed Carl Orff's Carmina Burana at Auditorium de la Seine Musicale, Paris.

In 2022, Adrien made his debut at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as Curio in Handel's Giulio Cesare, conducted by Philippe Jaroussky (directed by Damiano Michieletto), alongside Gaelle Arquez, Sabine Devieilhe and Franco Fagioli. This production was subsequently revived at Opéra de Montpellier. In 2023, he returned to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Charpentier's Médée conducted by Hervé Niquet (recording released by Alpha Classics), then the role of Gondebaud in Massenet's Grisélidis conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni (book-disc to be released by Bru Zane).
He was also invited by Alexis Kossenko and Les Ambassadeurs to sing in Mondoville's Le Carnaval du Parnasse at Versailles Opera Royal (recording to be released on Chateau Versailles Spectacles label).

His 2023/2024 season unfolds in the most prestigious venues: debut at Theater an der Wien in Mayr's L'Amor conjugale with David Stern and Opera Fuoco; the role of Angelotti in Puccini's Tosca with Les Frivolités Parisiennes at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, with a reprise at Reims Opéra; Télémaque et Calypso by Destouches with Les Ombres at Ambronay Festival and Versailles Opera Royal; Une petite Flûte enchantée (role of Papageno) with Les Siècles and directed by Julie Depardieu at Theatre des Champs-Élysées and then Bordeaux Opéra; Lully's Atys with Alexis Kossenko (Avignon Opera, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Tourcoing Theatre)

Adrien has a particular taste for Lied, melody and oratorio. He won the prestigious Lied Prize at Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Sing-Piano Competition alongside pianist Natallia Yeliseyeva, with whom he forms a duet. The latter was also selected for Academie of lied and melodie Orsay-Royaumont. Adrien gives regular recitals, including several appearances at Salle Cortot in 2020 following the invitation of Centre de Musique de Chambre de Paris. In 2021, he won the Contemporary Song Prize at the French Melodie Competition of Toulouse with the pianist Matvey Zheleznyakov.
